Business Portraits Matter
Stand Out From the Crowd and Build Your Brand
Recently, I had a great photo shoot in Smyrna, Tennessee with Cory and Natalie Jacobs of Farmer's Insurance. The Jacobs service the Middle Tennessee area including Murfreesboro. They needed to refresh their business imagery and provide a source of images for future business cards, website use, and commercial print work as they ramp up their business. Cory and Natalie represent quintissential emodiment of a fresh, young, eager, and energetic couple starting out in life (those are just some reasons to consider them for your insurance needs by the way). This is what I sought to capture in their environmental business portraits.
The Before Images
These images were used by the client in social media and Internet presence (company website).
People respond to visual stimuli far more than any other type and are visual creatures by nature. With the proliferation of social media and tight integration of business marketing in those streams, there has been a noticeable depreciation in imagery and branding quality. You see this not only in profile photos of individuals and particularly small business websites, but also the lack of professional graphic design (logos). In many, if not the majority of cases, business related profile photos are no better than snapshots. This is not because the business or person is unprofessional but because there has been a broad public acceptance and trending toward low image quality and DIY (Do It Yourself) solutions, especially among the economically stressed small business community. At some point, every small business should consider investing in a catalog of quality imagery for professional marketing, whether of people, products, or their establishments. It could be the only thing that sets apart one business from another in today's exceedingly visual oriented and competitive age! With proper usage rights (like that provided by Dassaro Imaging), the small business person would have years worth of professional imagery that could be used in any type of marketing material, printed or electronic.
In the case of Cory and Natalie, I sought to photograph them in an environment (one of their offices) that would be comfortable for them and reflective of what they do. I also wanted to capture their youth, which I did in many shots by increasing exposure and skin smoothing in Photoshop CS5 and by shooting with multiple Nikon SB-700's and SB-900's to fill shadows. Normally, I prefer shooting my subjects outdoors (especially in the many scenic and historic areas of Murfreesboro, Tennessee), mixing ambient light and flash guns or monolights. In fact, I am planning a few shoots that will bring the business aspect outdoors for some clients who are looking to veer away from traditional imagery often associated with business. However, in this case, I felt it was important to establish some basic, but contemporary, business shots of Cory and Natalie to start their portfolio.

A unique aspect of Dassaro Imaging's packages when compared to other photographers are usage rights and service. For just $100, you can download the entire portfolio in high-resolution (or low and medium) and use the images for any purpose at any time as long as you do not alter the image (except for basic cropping). Alternatively, you can download single images for $50 each with personal and commercial usage rights. We will even host your online image portfolio at dassaro.com at no additional charge (your images available 24/7 and password protected) and provide continued support as needed (i.e. additional images converted for social media use, consultation for commercial use). Most portfolios result in more than 5 finished images (Cory and Natalie's ended up with over 50 images on an extended shoot). We will also, at no additional fee, prepare your selected images for social media, specifically designed for each service (such as facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc..). We adjust resolution, composition, exposure, and image size to look best in any media stream and ensure consistent application and quality. This guarantees accurate branding of your image and business across the entire spectrum of your marketing environment.
Call Joe at any-time even if for just a free consultation. He can be reached at (615) 439-0545. We typically do photo shoots on weekends or late evenings but have limited availability during normal business hours. I found most business persons actually prefer to shoot on weekends so as not to interfere with work.
